Stop smoking

Introduction

Stopping smoking is the single best thing you can do to improve your health and the good news is that the risk of serious disease starts dropping as soon as you stop smoking. Breathing becomes easier and improves as lung function increases, and within one year of quitting, a person's risk of a heart attack is halves.

Help is available from the free evidence based smoking cessation service which supports people who want to stop smoking through tailored expert advice in combination with a stop smoking medication if appropriate.

Our approach is about understanding and we realise the struggle that some people have when they repeatedly try to quit. This is where we come in! It has been proven that you are 4 times more likely to stop smoking with the support from a Stop Smoking Adviser.

In a nutshell, we can offer:

      • Free access to an experienced and understanding NHS Stop Smoking Adviser at a location and time to suit you.
      • If appropriate, smoking cessation medications such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches, gum etc) available at prescription cost or free if you are exempt.
